Cash advance cost calculator
The numbers the law allows: pick a licensed state and an amount to see the maximum legal fee for a two-week advance. Where a state sets no fixed fee, we show the typical market range.
What the calculator shows
The fee is whatever your state's statute allows — not what a lender advertises. In a 15% state, a $300 loan costs $45 for two weeks (an APR around 391%, which is why a cash advance is a two-week tool, not long-term credit). Where no statutory fee exists, the range shown is a market estimate; the lender's contract is the binding number.
States that don't license cash advances aren't listed — see the honest status table across all covered states. Need larger sums in monthly installments? That's the tribal route — each state page (for example Texas) shows the trade.
Worked example
Set the state to California, the amount to $300, and the term to 31 days. California caps the fee at 15% of face value, so the maximum fee is $45 and the total repayment is $345. Now drop the term to 14 days: the fee stays $45, but the APR roughly doubles to about 391%. That asymmetry — the same flat fee annualizing differently at different terms — is exactly why these products are built for one paycheck gap, not a season.
Where every number comes from
Each licensed state's fee rate and cap in the calculator comes from its lending statute — the same dataset that builds our state cash advance guides. When a statute changes, one data update rebuilds the calculator and every state page together. Where a state sets no fixed fee, the calculator shows the typical market band ($15–$30 per $100) and labels it as an estimate, because the lender's contract is the binding number.
What can you use a cash advance for?
The product is built for specific situations. The typical ones:
- Overdraft avoidance — one flat fee instead of three bounced debits
- Groceries and utilities — the classic two-bill gap at the end of the month
- Car repair — a battery, a tire, a brake job — small failure, big inconvenience
- Medical copays — a clinic visit or a prescription that cannot wait
- Gas and transit — the commute money when the tank hits empty early
What Waxahachie Tribal does differently

- Simple eligibility — ID, income, and a bank account — the whole list
Disclosure. Waxahachie Tribal Loans is not a lender, not a broker, and does not make credit decisions. Tribal installment loans are offered by lenders operating under tribal law; state-licensed cash advances are set by third-party lenders under state law and depend on the lender's underwriting, with APRs that may range from 35.99% to 359.99%. A short-term loan is a tool for a temporary cash gap — it is not a solution for long-term debt problems. Late or missed payments may result in additional fees and collection activity. Review the lender's agreement, including the governing-law and arbitration clauses, before you sign.
